Acceptance: My journey to freedom
Elizabeth stood at the brink…the brink of a decision…a decision that would completely, irrevocably change her very existence…one that promised more heartache and hurt…and it was unavoidable. In some ways it was not even a decision not even a choice because she could no longer carry on this masquerade. Yes, when the pain of remaining the same is greater than the pain of change… That’s what they always said. Looking back she realized that the pain associated with either was about the same. She could see the vision…the vision of what life could be like if she could only manage to overcome all the obstacles between her and that vision. But it wasn’t just her that would suffer. There were so many others that would be affected by the path that she had chosen. It’s kind of funny how one goes through life so unaware of how many lives they have touched and like a mobile when one part changes the rest are set in motion sometimes in ways they do not want to deal with.
It all started—how cliché—when I was about 5 or maybe 6. These things are hard for me since my time space continuum is so out of sync with the rest of the world…anyway—well let’s be honest it all really started at the moment of conception. That is when God or nature (depending on your point of view) played a terrible trick on me.
